St. Mary’s Colby Caldwell, associate professor in art and art history, will be showing photographs and a video piece in the exhibition, "Portray" at the Addison/Ripley Fine Art Gallery from July 23 - August 27. "Portray” examines the boundaries of what constitutes a portrait. The gallery is located at 1670 Wisconsin Ave. in Washington, D.C. Gallery hours: 11-5 p.m. T-F. There will be an opening reception on July 23, from 6-8 p.m.

Summer Hours
St. Mary's is adopting a green approach to its hours of operation this summer in order to reduce our greenhouse gas pollution and save energy costs. By shutting off selected campus systems Friday through Sunday we will reduce our carbon footprint and save thousands of dollars that will be returned to our academic programs and community. See a list of summer hours for hours of operation of all buildings and offices on campus.
English Professor Gets Cover of Magazine

College Wins State "Green" Leadership Award
St. Mary's College is one of five organizations to receive the Leadership Award of the Maryland Green Registry. This is the first year the Registry has recognized special leadership amongst its 210 members. In its winning application, the College noted it is particularly proud that its environmental efforts are championed by the students. See full release.
Magazine Spotlights Special Olympics at St. Mary's
The July 2010 issue of Chesapeake Bay magazine features the annual Maryland Special Olympics Mid-Summer Classic, hosted the past 10 years by St. Mary's College. This year's Classic is July 31-Aug. 1.
River Concert Series Closes Season with Tony Nominee Kate Baldwin
Singing sensation and Wyle soloist Kate Baldwin joins music director Jeffrey Silberschlag and the Chesapeake Orchestra for the grand finale of the St. Mary's College of Maryland 2010 River Concert Series on July 30. Baldwin, who received both a 2010 Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical and a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, will sing such favorites as "That Something Special" and "It Might as Well Be Spring." 2010 Governor’s Cup Yacht Race Sets Sail August 6
The annual St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM) Governor's Cup Yacht Race sets sail from Annapolis on Friday, August 6, at 6 pm; and for the first time ever, boats will be tracked live by GPS. This year marks the 37th running of the race from Maryland's current capital city to its first capital in St. Mary's City. The Governor's Cup Yacht Race is the oldest and longest continuously run overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay. As boats begin to cross the finish line, sailors and the public are invited to a post-race party that goes on all day and into the evening Saturday with food and live entertainment.
