The Library at St. Mary's College of Maryland provides an inviting environment, dedicated staff, and excellent collections that promote learning and scholarship. We are committed to supporting the curriculum through information literacy practices, collection development and preservation, access to multimedia tools and training, and services provided locally and through our consortial partners.

The Library at St. Mary's College of Maryland is the largest library in St. Mary's, Calvert, and Charles county. We are a member of the University of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) library consortium and Lyrasis.

  • 219,000 items are in our collection, including books, DVDs, CDs, journals, newspapers, and magazines.
  • 80 online research databases are available to St. Mary's students, faculty and staff, as well as local patrons while in the library.
  • 500 print periodicals and 20,000 electronic periodicals are available to St. Mary's students, faculty and staff, as well as local patrons while in the library.
  • 24,000 material and media equipment loans were made to St. Mary's and USMAI borrowers during the 2010-2011 school year.
  • 101 classes were taught by librarians during the 2010-2011 school year.
  • 3400 questions were answered by librarians at the reference desk during the 2010-2011 school year.
  • 106 hours of open library time are available to St. Mary's students, faculty and staff each week during the fall and spring semesters.
