Bio: Katy Arnett is an Associate Professor of Educational Studies at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where she teaches courses on how to support English Language Learners (ELLs) in the K-12 classroom, students with special education needs, and methods of instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research interests primarily focus on students with disabilities in the second/foreign language classroom and methods for supporting newcomer students learning English in K-12 classrooms. She regularly presents her work in the U.S. and Canada, at scholarly and professional teaching conferences. During 2012-2013, she is a Fulbright Research Scholar at the Second Language Research Institute of Canada at the University of New Brunswick. Her first book, "Languages for All: How to support and challenge students in a second language classroom" has been recently published by Pearson Education Canada, and she is currently co-editing a volume focusing on minority populations in second language education programs in Canada.
