St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host the second concert of the fourteenth annual River Concert Series on Friday, June 29, 2012. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m.
The evening will be an extravaganza of French music, featuring pieces by Maurice Ravel. Kicking off the program will be George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris.” The Chesapeake Orchestra, led by conductor Jeffrey Silberschlag, will be joined by acclaimed Romanian pianist Csíky Boldizsár.
Boldizsár has performed with orchestras throughout Europe and Asia. He has made appearances on radio and television programs and in masterclasses around the world, and he often takes time to judge piano competitions. Boldizsár currently teaches at Gheorghe Dima Musical Academy in Cluj, Romania, where his piano students receive much praise. Boldizsár will perform Ravel’s “Piano Concerto in G” with the Chesapeake Orchestra.
The River Concert Series is free and open to the public.
