Press Release #12-078
St. Mary’s College of Maryland will host the fifth concert of the fourteenth annual River Concert Series on Friday, July 20, 2012. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and the concert will begin at 8 p.m.
The evening’s program will feature the Chesapeake Orchestra under the direction of Jeffrey Silberschlag performing compositions of Wagner and Debussy, with a guest appearance by pianist Brian Ganz, who will perform Grieg’s “Piano Concerto in A Minor.”
Brian Ganz is widely regarded as a leading pianist of his generation. A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Ganz has performed in concert halls from Memphis to Helsinki. He is currently attempting to perform all of Chopin’s approximately 250 works over the course of this decade, a feat which has likely never been achieved by a single pianist.
The River Concert Series is free and open to the public.
