Decatur, March 18-20 Our location is the Holiday Inn Select Atlanta/Decatur Hotel and Conference Plaza at 130 Clairemont Avenue, Decatur, GA 30088. For reservations, call 404-371-0204. There are SAS blocks of rooms available from Wednesday through Saturday evening. To obtain the special rate, you need to make reservations before Monday, February 16. The program outline: We will have an SAS registration desk available Wednesday evening through Saturday. Sessions will begin 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning, March 18th. We will have three concurrent sessions from 8 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Executive Board Meeting will be noon, Saturday, the Business Meeting Saturday afternoon, probably around 3:00, followed by our Reception, at which the New President will be feted, the Mooney Prize awarded and student paper competition winners announced. Program highlights: In addition to several submitted sessions and the key symposium, "Globalization and the Evolution of Emerging Disease," two sessions will include ethnographic films: the film "Natchez" will be shown as part of the session, "Historical Ethnography of a Street" organized by Jeffrey C. Kaufmann, (University of Southern Mississippi); and "What the Maya Want: A Documentary Film from the Toledo District of Belize," by Kevin Thomlinson, Christen Bales, Clay Davis, Erica Burnett and Mirabai Oyao (Valdosta State University). |
