- August 23: Residence halls open for new students.
- August 23-26: Orientation for new students
- August 25-26: Residence halls open for returning students at 10 a.m.
- August 27: Classes begin
- August 27-Sept 7: Drop/add period and late registration
September
- September 3: Labor Day Holiday: NO CLASSES
- September 7: Last day to change meal plan (in the business office)
- September 10-21: Add a course with a fee until Sep. 21. Students may withdraw with a grade of W with a $25 fee until Nov. 2
- September 10-28: Open Room Change period
- September 21: Deadline for Credit/No-credit grading option; Last day to declare or retract an Audit grading option; Last day to submit course work to remove an Incomplete
- September 27: Last day to withdraw from a half-semeser course.
October
- October 8 & 9: Fall Reading Days - no classes (residences remain open)
- October 15-19: Half-semester courses begin; Last day to register for half-semester courses beginning at mid-semester (Oct. 19)
- October 29-Nov.2: Academic advising for all currently enrolled degree students
- October 30: Advising Day - no classes
- October 31-Nov.9: Registration for degree students
November
- November 1: Last day to be released from the spring 2008 housing contract with no financial penalty
- November 1: Last day for students returning to SMCM from study abroad, leave of absence, etc. to submit a housing request for spring 2008 (requests received after Nov. 1 are not guaranteed housing)
- November 2: Last day to withdraw with a W from full-semester courses
- November 2-Dec.1: Contract releases that are submitted for spring 2008 that are approved will be assessed 10% of the semester cost for housing
- November 15: Last day to withdraw from a half-semester course which began at mid-semester
- November 16-Dec.7: Open room change for spring 2008
- November 20: Residences close at 10 p.m. for Thanksgiving Break - Health & Safety inspections occur.
- November 25: Residences re-open at 2 p.m.
- November 26: Classes resume
December
- December 3-Jan.13: Contract releases that are submitted for spring 2008 that are approved will be assessed 20% of the semester cost for housing
- December 7: Last day of classes.
- December 9-14: 23-hour quiet hours in and around the residences.
- December 10-13: Final exams
- December 14: Residences close for Winter Break at 12 p.m.Health & safety inspections occur
- December 17: Grades due to the registrar by noon
January
- January 11: Residences open, orientation, advising and registration begin for new students
- January 13: Residences open for returning students at 10 a.m.
- January 14: Classes begins.
- January 14-25: Drop/add period and late registration
- January 21: MLK Day - no classes
- January 25: Last day to change meal plans (in the Business Office)
