Office of Academic Services - Changing your major/minor or advisor Office of Academic ServicesChanging your major or minorTo change or declare your major or minor, e-mail Alan Lutton at anlutton@smcm.edu with your name, student ID number and the major or minor you wish to declare, including any major or minor previous declared that you wish to keep or change. A confirmation e-mail will be sent when the change has been made. Please note that students should declare their major by the end of their sophomore year or they will not be able to register for classes. Changes made during a student's senior year require meeting with the Registrar's Office for advisement. Independent Student Designed Major requests must be made through the ISDM Coordinator, Don Stabile (drstabile@smcm.edu). Changing your advisorTo change advisors, students should contact both their previous and new advisors. If the new advisor agrees, he/she must e-mail Alan Lutton at anlutton@smcm.edu with a statement that they will take the student as an advisee, the student's name, and ID number. (Change requests sent from students will not be accepted, but the new advisor can forward an e-mail request from a student with their approval.) A confirmation e-mail will be sent when the change has bee made. No major/minor or advisor changes will be allowed during registration periods.
