College 101 is designed to provide students with a sense of community, support, and understanding of all aspects of college life. The College 101 program includes a weekend of introduction to college life during the summer, and a two-credit seminar in the fall and spring.
Students invited into this program are chosen in order to encourage their best academic performance. We give special attention to students whom we believe may benefit from such an orientation because of their particular backgrounds. For example, they may: a) have experienced less rigorous academic programs at their high schools than those followed by some of our students, b) be the first in their families to attend college, c) speak a language other than English as their first language, d) have strong records of accomplishment in extra-curricular activities, athletics or leadership but less stellar academic records, or e) come from urban environments and have little experience in a more rural setting.
All of our students at St. Mary's College are honors students: high achieving, high talent students. Our goal is to provide all students with opportunities to strengthen the academic and leadership potential exhibited in their pre-college years. Our focus is on developing the students understanding of:

Eligible students, based on financial aid documentation, may receive a laptop computer for their use throughout their four years of college.
