This past Friday I went to off campus to a restaurant to participate in their weekly trivia night. I came with four friends of mine, but a number of other St. Mary’s students were there too. All together there must have been 50 or so people. Each group of people breaks off and forms a team and every team member pays $2 for the prize pool. 1st , 2nd , and 3rd place all get money prizes. They have forty or so questions that the week’s tester yells out to everyone and everyone is loud and boisterous which makes for a lot of fun. The cool thing about this particular week was that the two “testers” were two friends of ours, but that didn’t make the questions any less difficult. We didn’t do particularly well, but had a lot of fun in the process. Fortunately, my girlfriend is in the Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) elementary education program and successfully answered the series of five questions about children’s books.
Examples of two questions we got wrong:
1) Who originally wrote “A Boy Named Sue”? [hint: not Johnny Cash]
2) Who is the sister in the Beatles song “Mean Mister Mustard”? [hint: Not Sexy Sadie! ah]
