After graduating from St. Mary’s he went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of York in England.  Brooks now works for Oxford Archaeology East.

  1. Alasdair Brooks Says:

“After graduating from St. Mary’s he went on to earn a master’s degree from the University of York in England”

…and a doctorate from the University of York, followed by two post-doctoral research fellowships at LaTrobe University in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve also worked professionally in Piedmont Virginia, upstate New York, Jamaica, Wales, and England. I’m currently collaborating with a colleague in Venezuela, and have been an officer of the Society for Historical Archaeology (as their Newsletter Editor) since 2008.

So if there are any anthropology students at SMCM studying under Julie King, Dan Ingersoll, and the HSMC team who find themselves wondering if an anthropology degree and a 10 week field school can take them anywhere, the answer is yes, it can. Sometimes it can take you a very long way – both physically and metaphorically.
