For spring break I traveled with the St. Mary’s Ultimate (Frisbee) Team to Jekyll Island, GA for a college tournament. There were 40 open (often meaning all male) teams, 25 women’s teams and 8 coed teams. We played in the A-division with 24 other open division teams and got 10th among them… not bad considering St. Mary’s is a small college (nearly 2,000 students and we were playing against some schools that have over 20,000). This is not to mention we only had 11 players for most of the tournament (you play with 7 on the field at a time) while most teams had over 15. The tournament was spread out over three days, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with three games each day. Overall we had 4 wins and 5 losses.
Last Saturday we drove down to Georgia to the house we rented for the week, where both our men’s team and women’s team were staying, a little cramped, but not so bad considering it was three houses from the beach! We spent most of our time at the beach relaxing and taking advantage of the often really nice and warm weather. We drove back the following Saturday, 5 of us cramped into a subaru with all of our pleasant smelling gear for the 10+ hour return to St. Mary’s.
We have one more tournament called Roll Call this weekend at the Polo Fields in Poolesville, MD before our biggest tournament of the year Sectionals (Apr 4-5), which will decide whether or not we can move onto Regionals and ultimately onto Collegiate Nationals.

This is me in the yellow jersey and colorful hat throwing the disc in our game against Rutgers. In the background is the captain Adam.

This is our team huddled up before a game. I'm number 13.
