In the world of St. Mary’s, no three letters have more importance than the letters SMP. These letters provoke fear in the eyes of procrastinating seniors, pride in the eyes of St. Mary’s grads, and general bewilderment in the eyes of the general public. You see, SMP stands for St. Mary’s Project, a two-semester 8-credit independent research project that students complete in their senior year. At the conclusion of the year, students publicly present their project.
However, some students who jumped ahead of the game are finishing up their projects this semester. The psychology department has already planned an afternoon SMP symposium to showcase research conducted by students in their department.
