Martin Luther King, Jr. day brings the start of the new semester at St. Mary’s. Today is what I would call transition day. Most students moved back to campus Sunday afternoon, and spent today reconnecting with friends, buying textbooks, and taking a deep breath before the train starts moving tomorrow.
This morning St. Mary’s held its 6th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. breakfast in the Great Room. The program featured William Yoast, the high school football coach portrayed in the film “Remember the Titans,” Lieutenant Christiliene Whalen, who graduated from Great Mills High School during the desegregation era, and John W. Franklin, of the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History.
The Washington Post was on campus to cover this event and included some photos in their Remember MLK Jr. slideshow,
