Hey Everyone!
It is the first week in March and it’s SNOWING in St. Mary’s! While I love a good snowfall as much as anyone, I am ready for the warm weather to arrive! SMCM in the spring is something to behold. The cherry blossams around the pond starts blooming, the students start eating all their meals outside, and shoes are no more–there is nothing the students love more than going barefoot! Warm weather just makes everything more fun! It’s for this reason that I’m looking forward to Spring Break!
Not only is Spring Break a nice and well-deserved break from classes for us all (Professors included), it offers some great opportunities for taking a trip. Say you’re in the Tropical Biology class, you can go to Belize for Spring Break! How cool is that? As for me, I’ve been taking Scuba Diving for credit–it is a half-semester course and allows you to get certified to dive! I’m going to Key Largo over Spring Break to do my certification dives for the class. Normally, students go to a lake in Virginia to get certified, but the scuba instructor this semester is going to be in Key Largo for the week of our Spring Break, so if you wanted to you could get certified down there instead. And who wouldn’t want to go to the Florida Keys for Spring Break!
Scuba Diving is just one of the awesome physical education classes offered here at SMCM. I would reccommend it to anyone with any interest in diving. Not only do you get academic credit for taking the class, but you might get to go to an awesome location to dive like me! Key Largo here I come!
