Scholar Athletes

In the world-

Our athletes perform at the highest level both on the field and in the classroom.

St. Mary's athletes are not just outstanding on the field, they contribute and achieve in the classroom. They compete in a range of sports from lacrosse to swimming to field hockey. Men and women just like you who know what it takes to be part of a team and still focus on academics. That is a true Seahawk. But don't take our word for it, here is what Monica Powell, Class of 2011 (Rockville, MD), of the Women's Tennis team had to say:

Monica Powell'11

"I'm always amazed by how often academics and athletics overlap when you are a student-athlete. Just the other day I was discussing my favorite books with my tennis coach in the morning and giving tennis lessons to my English professor in the afternoon."

Just like Monica you too can become
a scholar athlete - a Seahawk!

National College Athlete Honors Society - Chi Alpha Sigma

Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization established to recognize college student athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years. We are proud that St. Mary's had 30 student-athlete members inducted to Chi Alpha Sigma this year. You can read more about the National College Athlete Honors Society at http://www.ncahs.org/
