Dear Prospective Parent,



It is hard to believe it is four years ago that we were going through that very busy, but exciting time helping our son decide the best college fit for him. Even after narrowing the choices down to small liberal arts colleges, the selections seemed numerous. Being from Frederick, Maryland, we wanted to consider at least one state school for comparison purposes and St. Mary's College of Maryland rated among the top.



Upon visiting, we were taken in by the beautiful, friendly campus, the excellent professors, the small student to teacher ratio and the strong tradition of students continuing their education at the post graduate level. The bonus was the affordability when compared to other schools of this caliber. For the value minded consumer, it truly seemed the best buy.



Our son made arrangements for an overnight stay and visited classes to help him make up his mind. He was most impressed with the close, personal relationship he felt with the professors, the opportunity to study abroad and the diverse interests of his peers, serious minded students looking to be leaders in their chosen fields.



After making that big decision to attend St. Mary's College of
 Maryland, he has never looked back. In addition to his stimulating academic schedule, he has become involved in organizations and community outreach programs. Our son has taken advantage of club outings, taken part in symposiums, and enjoyed hearing from guest lecturers from all walks of life. He has attended college sponsored plays, dance and musical performances on and off campus. He has been active in the administration's decisions for students and campus life and traveled abroad to Europe and India.



In retrospect, St. Mary's College of Maryland has exceeded our
expectations for a quality, well rounded college experience for our son. Maryland residents are fortunate to have a public honors college that favorably compares to the best small liberal arts colleges nationwide.
