Hello, and welcome to St. Mary’s College!
We are from a town just outside Madison, Wisconsin (Stoughton). Our daughter Jackie, had decided in her senior year in high school to study either pre-medicine or Oceanography. We decided to take a college tour of the east coast schools for her during the spring break. While we visited many campus sites, we were all very impressed by St. Mary’s; the campus, the educational opportunities, the friendly students, and dedicated admission staff made the school an impressive find.
After we finished visiting all the colleges on our list, we noticed that we kept matching each one up against St. Mary’s. We discovered that each campus you visit has a vibe, an atmosphere, or feeling of its own. The trick is to match up the right one with your child. Jackie felt right away that St. Mary’s was where she wanted to advance her learning experience.
With Jackie being an out of state student, we had to give extra thought on getting her to school and settled in, but it was a smooth process. She was matched up with a student from Maryland and they are still roommates today. With St. Mary’s being a liberal arts and honors college, the students are all of very high caliber and have many of the same goals and principals. We found she was able to make good friends quickly, with people of elevated standards, and good heads on their shoulders. (Something we parents worry about; who our children will be “hanging out” with). We wish you and your child the best of luck during your college search!
Sincerely,
Lisa and Jim Mastny
