The St. Mary's Fund
The St. Mary’s Fund enables the College to preserve its mission and serve its students by providing flexibility to meet immediate needs and new opportunities in support of the following priorities:
- scholarship for access and intellectual exploration
- creative student and faculty programs for social and environmental responsibility
- collaborative student and faculty initiatives for community and global engagement
Because it is considered "unrestricted," the St. Mary's Fund is the most impactful: contributions are given without limitations for use and the funds are disbursed on a current-use basis.
Every donor makes a difference and can advance the mission of the College and enhance the entire student experience. Gifts for the St. Mary's Fund demonstrate confidence in the institution and its educational mission. Some foundations and other grant-making organizations consider the number of donors rather than gift amounts when determining grant requests - alumni, parents, and friends can help St. Mary's to secure hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding.
And each alumni gift boosts the College's alumni giving participation rate, an important factor in the college rankings for U.S. News & World Report and other publications. The Class Giving Challenge is a competition amongst all the classes to be number one with the largest percentage of donors giving to the College. The idea is everyone gives something – to the best of his or her ability – every year.
Calls are made by St. Mary's students in the spring and fall - to alumni and parents - in support of the St. Mary's Fund.
