May Russell Lodge Rental Policy

We welcome all St. Mary's College alumni back to campus for a relaxing stay in the May Russell Lodge, commonly referred to as the "Alumni Lodge." This is a very popular building and is reserved by alumni who wish to reconnect with the College, get away for a while, or even stay for their wedding. Because we need to accommodate many guests, we ask that you contact us well in advance to book the Lodge for an overnight stay.

Alumni Lodge

Effective May 2011, St. Mary’s alumni will have priority in reserving the May Russell Lodge during the summer months (mid-May through mid-August). If the Lodge is not reserved by alumni within a week of the date that it is desired by another group on campus, then it will be released to that group to rent.

Reservations

To reserve the May Russell Lodge, call the Office of Alumni Relations Monday through Friday at (240) 895-4280 or email us at alumnioffice@smcm.edu. Dates when the Lodge is not available will be marked "booked."

PLEASE NOTE: Summer reservations will only be accepted only after January 1 of the year requested. However, summer reservations for weddings can be taken well in advance.

Check-In/Check-Out

Check-In is at 3 p.m. Check-Out is at 10 a.m. on weekdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays

The May Russell Lodge keys should be picked up from the Office of Alumni Relations in the Alumni House (only during the summer months) before 5 p.m. and the Office of Public Safety after 5 p.m. Public Safety will not issue a key to anyone whose name does not appear on the list provided by the Office of Conferences and Events or the Office of Alumni Relations. If circumstances necessitate an early arrival (before 3 p.m.) or late check-out (after 11 a.m.), please place your lagguage in the alcove at the base of the stairway as rooms may be reserved for other guests.When you leave, place the keys in the mailbox on the front door of the lodge. Guests will be charged $50.00 for keys that are not returned.

$1,200 wedding rate              Friday through Sunday (includes use of the Garden of Remembrance)

Additional charges will be assessed to guests responsible for any damage incurred or any items missing from the May Russell Lodge during their stay. Damages will be charged at the cost determined appropriate by the Office of Conferences and Events so please be respectful during your visit.

Cancellation Policy

Full refunds will be given with one week notice of the cancellation. No refunds will be granted within one week of the date reserved.

Accommodations

Lower Level - The Lodge has a living/dining room combination and a kitcken on the lower level. A screened-in porch overlooks the St. Mary's River and is located just off the dining room for guests' enjoyment. The living room has a fireplace, but firewood is not provided by the College.

Upstairs-Level - There are three bedrooms and one bathroom on the upstairs level. Bedroom #1 has one double bed, bedroom #2 has one double bed, and bedroom #3 has a set of twin beds.

There is a maximum of six guests per night. If more guests are found staying at the Lodge, then all guests will be asked to leave and refunds will not be issued. Infants and small children that sleep in portacribs provided by the parents are not included in the number of guests.

Kitchen Facilities

Guests are welcome to use the kitcken as long as it is left clean for the next guest(s) or function. Coffee and filters are in the cabinet next to the stove. Please wash all dishes used and remove or discard all leftover food.

Phone Use

Dial "9" for an outside line for local calls. Dial "0" to reach the College operator. Long-distance calls must be put on a calling card or the charges reversed.

Pets

The May Russell Lodge does not accommodate pets.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in the May Russell Lodge.
