St. Mary's College of Maryland Alumni Council

Founded on August 14, 1917, a group of alumnae formally established the Alumni Association and created its governing body, known as the Board of Governors. The first president, Betty Revell Wathen, Class of 1885, was a co-founder.
In 1981, the Association updated its constitution and changed the name of its governing body to the Alumni Council. Today, nearly 14,000 former students make up the Alumni Association.
Throughout the Alumni Web page, you will notice that alumni names are followed by a number indicating their graduation year. Sometimes that number is followed by a letter designation as well. "HS" stands for High School and "JC" for Junior College. This is a legacy of St. Mary's origins as St. Mary's Female Seminary and St. Mary's Seminary - Junior College.
