Alumni Council

The St. Mary's College of Maryland Alumni Council is the governing body of the Alumni Association. Its leadership is comprised of a five-member executive committee including a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and parliamentarian. The Council membership numbers up to 21 individuals, not including alumni chapter presidents. The president also represents the Alumni Association as a voting member of the SMCM Board of Trustees. Alumni Council members serve a one-year term (renewable up to six consecutive terms) during which time they are asked to attend quarterly meetings and to serve on special committees and task forces. The Council is called upon to make recommendations concerning a variety of matters that might impact the Association and the College including publications, fundraising, and special events.

The alumni director serves as the Alumni Council's executive director and is an ex officio (non-voting) member of the Council. The director's role is that of adviser to the Council and liaison between the Association and the College.
