The 11th Annual John R. Petruccelli Memorial 5K Run/Walk

John Petruccelli was a senior at St. Mary’s when while riding his bicycle on a road near the College, he was killed by a drunk driver. The Petruccelli family established an endowed scholarship in memory of John, which is awarded annually to a student for academic attainment, devotion to the College and the cause of education, and responsibility to society. This year, proceeds from the run will support the College’s Safe Ride Program and the Alumni scholarship program.
This is a great way to begin Hawktober Festival and Family Weekend. The 3.1 mile running course is cross-country style and somewhat hilly through the trails of Historic St. Mary’s City. The walk is 1.5 miles on level ground on the paved paths through HSMC.
Check-in and registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. on the front porch of The Rectory (directly across the street from the Historic State House) where the race will begin and end. Refreshments and awards will be at the conclusion of the race. The Chesapeake Bay Running Club will be the official timekeeper for this race and results will be posted on the web site.
