majoring in art history

Art history at St. Mary's spans time, from the Lascaux caves to contemporary sculpture, and spans the globe, from the Eiffel Tower in Paris to the towers of the Mayan city of Chichen Itza. Art history majors balance their program with courses in American, European and Latin American art history. In addition, majors take courses in studio art in order to underscore the processes by which art is made. During the senior year, students complete a comprehensive research project, often utilizing local resources such as the college’s Teaching Collection of Art.

For more information about the courses and the program, please see the courses we teach and the College catalog.
