Carrie Patterson
Carrie Patterson is an Assistant Professor of Art and teaches courses in drawing, painting, and two-dimensional foundations. She received a B.F.A from James Madison University and an M.F.A in painting from The University of Pennsylvania. She also studied drawing and painting at The New York Studio School. Before coming to St. MaryÕs in 2004, she was a Visiting Instructor of art at The College of William and Mary. Her drawings and paintings reflect the experience of inhabiting space. Patterson is involved with the practice of recording visual events in order to understand the physical and emotional world around us. She uses memories of light and form to create paintings that convey an internal awareness of one's own body in space by distilling shape, line, and color into the simplest components.
