Alumni Where are they now?

Matthew Fishel (studio art, 2001) completed an MFA at Maryland Institute College of Art in 2010. Originally interested in painting, Matthew has expanded his practice to include animation, video, installation, and digital imaging. He is a frequent contributor to RedStarKGB, an ongoing collaboration of filmmakers in Baltimore. His own film, "A Short Film Regarding Possibilities", was selected by the Maryland Film Festival in 2006. See his work at http://www.matthewfishel.com
Requirements for Studio Art Concentrators
For students entering SMCM from Fall, 2006. Ask you advisor about requirements if you began before that Fall, 2006.
13 courses with a minimum of 48 credit hours, as outlined below:
Core:
- ART 105 Intro Visual Thinking
- ARTH 100 Intro Art History
- ART 214 Intro Digital
- ART 204 Intro Drawing
Electives:
- Studio Elective
- Studio Elective
- 300-Level Studio Elective (selected from 304,306,308,310,312,314,318 (note: these courses can be repeated once for credit)
- Art History Elective
- Art Theory Elective
- Art Theory, History, or Studio Elective (in consultation with your advisor)
- Art Theory, History, or Studio Elective (in consultation with your advisor)
Senior Capstone: (as outlined in your required senior proposal and approved by the AAH faculty)
- ART 493 SMP I
- ART 494 SMP II
or
- 2 upper-level 300 or 400-level Studio Electives*
*one must be selected from 304,306,308,310,312,314,318
(note: these courses can be repeated once for credit)
*Note that 300-level studio courses have prerequisites. Remember this when you choose which courses to take to satisfy the two studio electives – at least one will have to be the prerequisite for the required ART 3xx.
