Art Student Resources > Exhibition Opportunities

Developing a record of exhibition is a crucial part of career advancement for the studio artist.  It can help you get into graduate school, apply for grants and other arts opportunities, and land art related jobs.  It helps you develop professional contacts and is a great way to meet and bond with fellow artists. Simply put, it is what artists do.

An obvious first step is to participate in the on campus opportunities including our annual student art exhibition held every spring and St. Mary’s Project in Studio Art Exhibitions. But it is well worth the effort to participate in exhibition opportunities beyond campus even while in college. There are many exhibitions specially oriented toward the emerging student artist. We constantly receive calls for submission fliers for these sorts of exhibitions. We post them on the department bulletin board and now on our online opportunities page.
