Why I am a trustee: Graduated from (and year): Profession: When I was in college I studied: Today I wish I had studied: Favorite book: Favorite film: Favorite cuisine: Role model: Education/Career Advice for Students: George Thomas Daugherty is the president of Mayjack, Inc., a member of the Board of Directors for Old Line Bank and was President of Maryland Bank & Trust Company from 2001 to 2011. Prior to banking, he was a private practice lawyer at G. Thomas Daugherty Chartered from 1977-2001 and served as a U.S. Navy aviator, both on active duty and as a reservist, from 1969-1978. Daugherty attended Charlotte Hall School and graduated from St. Mary’s Junior College with an associate of arts degree in 1965. He received his B.A. in history from the College of William and Mary in 1967, and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore Law School in 1976.
I am an alum and a long-time supporter of the College. I believe that it is a vital part of the community and I enjoy being a part of that.

Daugherty served on the St. Mary’s College Foundation Board from 1989 to 2006. He and his wife, Helen, the G. Thomas and Martha Myers Yeager Chair in the Liberal Arts and a professor of sociology at the College, also served as co-chairs of the $40 million St. Mary’s College of Maryland Heritage Campaign. He was appointed to the College’s Board of Trustees in 2001.
Other activities and professional associations include the board of directors for Maryland Bank and Trust Co., the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, St. Mary’s County chapter of the Rotary Club, the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance and a life member of the Navy League of the United States. He is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He previously served on the board of directors and as chairman for the Housing Authority in St. Mary’s County, the St. Mary’s County Economic Development Commission, Maryland Bankers Association Board, and the American Bankers Association Government Relations Council.
Daugherty is the son of the late John T. and Katharine Daugherty. His father founded Maryland Bank and Trust and served as a trustee of the College. His mother, who received an honorary degree from the College in 2000, worked to establish the library system in Lexington Park, Maryland. He and his wife, Helen, live in Lexington Park, Maryland.
