Why I am a trustee:
I wanted to help St. Mary's and to enhance the College's relationship with the defense industry, specifically the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

Profession:
I am retired from owning and running a company that provided professional services to the Navy at Pax River, Charleston, South Carolina, and other locations nationally and internationally.

Role Model:
My role model is my dad who, at 87, is incredibly active in the community and with his family.

Education/Career Advice for Students:
Always push yourself and those around you to accomplish more.  Never settle.

Bio

John McAllister is the former president, CEO, and co-founder of Eagan, McAllister Associates, Inc. (EMA).  He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame and his master’s degree in procurement from The George Washington University.  McAllister is a retired Navy captain (U.S. Navy Reserves) who began his 12-year Navy career as a U.S. Naval supply corps officer.  In 1981, McAllister left the Navy to accept a position as head of the contracting division for a naval activity in Southern Maryland.  A year later, he joined a large defense contractor for a two-year stint as a project manager, directing a technical program analysis effort supporting Navy Command and Control Systems.  In 1984, he joined with Rex Eagan to found Eagan, McAllister Associates, Inc.  Amsec LLC, a joint venture company formed by Science Applications International Corp and Northrop Grumman, acquired EMA in 2003. 

McAllister has been an active supporter of the College as a sponsor of The River Concert Series, Computer Science Co-op participant, faculty sponsor for biology professor Bob Paul and by providing EMA staff members Jon Linn as an adjunct faculty member to the College. 

McAllister is an active community participant, serving on the Historic St. Mary’s City Commission, the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center Board of Governors, and the St. Mary's Hospital Board of Directors.  He has also served on the board of the Sotterly Foundation.
