St. Mary's College of Maryland
The Boyden Gallery

2012-2013 Exhibition Schedule

(Exhibitions are free and open to the public.  The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Thursday and by appointment during the semester.)

The Boyden Gallery is currently transitioning leadership and creating a strategic plan to work with the College's academic goals. Due to this, we will be limiting our exhibition offerings as we develop programming for future exhibitions.

September-November 2012

Object Lessons

Part exhibition and part classroom laboratory, Object Lessons showcases the interdisciplinary teaching and learning potential of works from the college's Fine Art Collection. Working with objects and artifacts is intrinsic to teaching in a studio art, art history, or archaeology curriculum; so the front of the exhibition space is dedicated to work that has been and continues to be used in several existing object-based courses, including American Art, Introduction to Drawing, and Curatorial Studies. Since there are many connections still to be found, the rest of the exhibition is designed to be more open-ended for the viewer to explore and discover.
