Tuition-Waiver Policies

More information on:

Employees:

Full-time employees occupying permanent positions are eligible to enroll, at no cost, in up to eight credits per semester. Employees must be in good financial standing with the College to enroll in a course(s). Employees are to complete an Employee Education Benefits Authorization Form (Tuition Waiver) and return it to Human Resources for approval.

Employees may, with approval of their supervisors, take one course during working hours, provided all lost work time is made up. Employees who terminate their employment with the College, or are terminated, shall be permitted to complete the course(s) in which they are enrolled, provided the course(s) is in progress.

All fees and other course-related expenses are the employee's responsibility. Internships, independent studies, and non-credit courses are eligible for tuition waiver only when such programs do not result in additional expense for the College.

Dependent Children and Spouses of Employees:

Dependent children and spouses of full-time employees occupying permanent positions are eligible for full tuition waiver for up to four years (equivalent of four years full-time, or eight semesters and four summer sessions, or 128 credits), less any scholarship aid awarded from other sources. Employees are to complete a Dependent Education Benefits Authorization Form (Tuition Waiver) and return it to Human Resources for approval.

For purposes of this benefit, dependent children are defined as unmarried natural, step-, or adopted children of the employee, receiving at least 50% of their financial support from the employee, and who are not over 25 years of age. Dependents of terminated employees shall be permitted to complete the course(s) in which they are enrolled, provided the course(s) is in progress. Faculty and staff members at St. Marys College may send their dependents to St. Marys College 100% tuition remission after two years of continued employment. This benefit is unrestricted and applies only to staff employed after December 1, 2001.

Fees and other course-related expenses are the employee's responsibility. Internships, independent studies, and non-credit courses are eligible for tuition waiver only when such programs do not result in additional expense for the College.
