Vehicle Registration

St. Mary’s College of Maryland students who operate a motor vehicle on campus are required to obtain and properly display a parking decal.

• Resident students must purchase a parking decal that is specific to a particular lot in their residential neighborhood. The Business Office will only sell as many decals in each lot as there are spaces.
• Assignments are on a first-come, first-choice basis except for first-year students who will be assigned to Lot T.
• Resident students will prioritize their first choice, second choice, etc., based on their housing assignment.
• Lots will be identified by letters only.
• Decals will be distributed to resident students during check-in. Commuter decals will be mailed up until two weeks prior to the start of classes. After that time, commuters must pick up their decal in the Business Office upon arrival on campus.

You may obtain a parking permit by completing a Student Parking Permit Registration form and mailing it with a check for $100.00 ($50.00 for spring semester only) made payable to St. Mary’s College of Maryland, attention Cashier’s Office, 18952 E. Fisher Road, St. Mary’s City, MD 20686-3001. For additional information, please email althomas@smcm.edu.

Parking regulations are available at the Public Safety office and at the Business Office. All students are strongly encouraged to read the regulations. Failure to register vehicles and display the required permit will result in a parking citation and a fine of $25 or more for each offense. The vehicles of persistent violators will be impounded and will not be released until all fines have been paid and the vehicles have been properly registered.

Planning to Park on Campus? Students who plan to bring a car to campus for the spring semester must have a valid parking decal. Please contact Angela Thomas in the Business Office at althomas@smcm.edu or by phone at 240-895-4306 to check on parking availability before arriving on campus with your vehicle.
