!Women Art Revolution Screening
Hannah Piper Burns will introduce this comprehensive documentary on feminist art with statements by Director Lynn Hershman Leeson and Producer and Interviewee Alexandra Chowaniec. Hannah Piper Burns is an experimental documentary, video, and installation artist who lives and works in Portland, Oregon. She is an SMCM alumna from the Class of 2006. She then completed her post-baccalaureate certificate and master of fine arts degree in the New Genres department of the San Francisco Art Institute, graduating in 2009.
Now, Hannah Piper Burns works as a social media consultant and freelance writer for clients like Lynn Hershman Leeson, whose newest film !Women Art Revolution has screened at TIFF, SFIFF, Sundance, and the Berlinale, and the Portland Art Dealers Association, as well as emerging artists around the country.
Burns is a founding member of the Portland-based microcinema and experimental media center Grand Detour. Her work toured with Grand Detour's European "Heavy Meta Tour" in the fall of 2010, screening in London, Berlin, and Glasgow. She is also the communications director of the Museum of Pocket Art. She curated MoPA's fall 2010 exhibition, All Business All the Time, which uses the form of a business card to explore the contact points between artists' studio practice and day jobs.
Hannah Piper Burns is the Artist House Artist-in-Residence from October 17- October 30, 2011.
