Performance – Kyōgen Comedies
"Laughing at Life: A Performance of Kyōgen Plays"
Bruce Davis Theater, Montgomery Hall
After four years, Asian performance specialist and professor of theater, Holly A. Blumner, brings back to the main stage a series of new Japanese KYŌGEN COMEDIES in translation, in both traditional and contemporary stagings. Meaning "mad words" or "wild speech," kyōgen is a form of traditional Japanese comic theater performed as kinds of intermissions between the acts of the more serious and somber Noh dramas. Its goal – to make you laugh! So, come have an evening of fun, kyōgen-style!
Reservations: To reserve tickets for the KYŌGEN COMEDIES, contact the Theater Box Office at 240-895-4243 (ext. 4243), or email email@example.com. Ticket prices are $4 for students, faculty, SMCM staff, senior citizens, and Arts Alliance members; $6 general admission. Patrons must pick up their reserved tickets at the Box Office window by 1:50 p.m.; otherwise, unclaimed tickets will be released for sale.
