Ruth J. Abram, founder of the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, will discuss The Power of History to address contemporary social issues. The Tenement Museum, founded in 1988, whose mission is "to promote tolerance and historical perspective through the presentation and interpretation of the variety of immigrant and migrant experiences on Manhattan's Lower East Side, has changed the way museums view themselves and their place in their communities.
