'How Beowful Can Save America' Reading
Professor of English Robin Bates will read from his recently published book How Beowulf Can Save America: An Epic Hero's Guide to Defeating the Politics of Rage in the Blackistone Room (Anne Arundel Hall) at 4:45 on Wednesday, October 31, at 4:45.
How Beowulf Can Save America can be downloaded free on Kindle through October 25 (Thursday) through Amazon. Copies can also be purchased at the reading.
The book argues that the three monsters in Beowulf captures three of the angers currently dividing America: jealous resentment, destructive grief, and despairing cynicism. It also contends that the poem's epic hero provides ways of handling America's anger problems.
