Object Lessons II: Boyden Gallery Exhibition
Part exhibition and part classroom laboratory, Object Lessons II builds on the experimental exhibition Object Lessons (Fall 2012) that showcased the interdisciplinary teaching and learning potential of works from the College's Teaching Collection. Object Lessons II features artwork and material culture from Africa, Asia, and the Americas from the 19th century to the present. This exhibition brings together diverse works that depict, reference or engage the human figure through three primary themes: the political body, the physical body, and the performative body. The exhibition invites multiple lines of discussion across the disciplines about issues of representation, race, class and gender, agency, propaganda, performance, production and consumption.
