Alumni & Parent Partners
Thank you for your interest in the SMCM Career Development Center! Alumni and parents have the potential to play a key role in our efforts to build and strengthen the opportunities available to St. Mary's students. Join the hundreds of other alumni and parent partners who have volunteered their time and talent. Here are some of the ways you can get involved:
- Become a mentor by joining MentorNet, the SMCM mentorship database
- Participate in events on campus such as professional panels or resume feedback sessions (volunteer through MentorNet)
- Recruit on campus or post entry-level employment openings with our office (see Employer FAQ)
- Contact us about establishing an internship opportunity at your organization (learn about our internship program here)
Just for Parents!
As a parent you may be wondering how you can assist your son or daughter in preparing for life after St. Mary's. The first step is to encourage your child to explore our website, just as you are doing! Suggest that they visit the Career Development Center for career advising early and often. We have an extensive library of resources, literature about special opportunities, and several on-site computers so that students can request feedback as they work to draft or revise resumes, applications, and statements. We also offer targeted programming throughout the year on everything from choosing a major to searching for jobs. Becoming acquainted with our resources and tools in the first or second year benefits students immensely in their career exploration and planning. It's never too early (or too late!) to visit the CDC! Finally, some more resources just for you...

Just for Alumni!
Please consider our website your "Virtual Career Development Center," helpful to you wherever you might be! Most of the resources provided here will be of value to individuals at any point in their career path, so we invite you to explore them. We also welcome you to return to St. Mary's and pay a visit to our new Resource Library, where you will find many additional print resources. Recent graduates are encouraged to make an advance appointment with a career advisor so that we can ensure someone is available to meet your needs when you arrive. Also be sure to check out the Alumni Association website!
