Though it may seem like a challenge to write the "perfect" resume, securing an actual job can be even more challenging. In reality, most employment opportunities are found through professional networks, word of mouth, and internal advertisements such as those on an employer's website. (Look here for suggestions for broadening your job search strategy.)
Our office offers many resources and services that can help as well, including a binder of job openings received by our office (we expect this information to go online by January 2009), several employer directories, and on-campus interviews and recruiter visits. Be sure to check our main page and events page for upcoming opportunities.
Job posting boards may be a valuable resource for you as well, however, particularly if you check them frequently and identify new opportunities soon after they are posted. On this page we have provided links to several entry-level and general job boards. There are many more out there, but we have identified these as especially useful and user-friendly. Further down are links to other pages on our site where you'll find resources for more targetted searches such as local, regional, nonprofit, and federal employment.

Career Builder
Though this site is not focused on entry-level jobs (so you'll need to do some "filtering" of your own), it includes several useful tools in addition to the standard posting of employment opportunities including an EXTENSIVE list of employers (under "Other Searches" click on "By Company" and then search the employer sites for open positions). Includes resume posting capability and useful articles as well. If you want to do some additional exploration of empoyer sites, try the Quintessential Careers Directory of Employer Career/Human Resource Pages.Hot Jobs
This Yahoo! site probably pulls the same jobs you'll see on other boards, but might be worth a look.Indeed
This site is a valuable "job search search engine." It is a bit different from the others in that it includes listings from thousands of Web sources, including company career pages in addition to major job boards, newspapers, and associations. Very helpful for searches targetted to specific zip codes. Here's a similar site: simplyhired.com.Career Shift
Several job hunting tools including searches of employer sites according to your criteria. Includes tools to manage your job search as well. $29.95 per month. 24-hour free trial available.Professional Links by Major
In the future we intend to add to this site a list of professional resources for each major and minor offered on campus. In the mean time, this enormously helpful tool on the UMBC Web site directs you professional associations and organizations related to many SMCM majors. Many provide information about how to find jobs in the field, and some even provide current job listings.
Occupational Outlook Handbook
The OOH provides details on 270 specific occupations including links to professional associations that may be a resource for job seeksrs. Also promotes federal job opportunities relevant to each occupation.
Looking for more? Check out the Riley Guide to online job banks. This page of the site is particularly helpful becuase it flags entry-level sites with a red notation.
