We would be happy to host your organization on campus for a day of interviews with our students and alumni. The Career Development Center (CDC) offers interview rooms for you to meet individually with SMCM students and alumni to discuss position opportunities. This service provides the opportunity for you to post a position(s), preview candidate resumes, and then arrange to interview students on campus.
We use a pre-select Interview Schedule. This allows you the option to manage the on-campus recruiting process through HireSMCM. Students will apply online, employers can select who they want to interview, and the system will automatically invite those selected students. You may also select alternates in case the selected students are not available.

The CDC wants to make sure your recruiting efforts are successful. Here are some helpful tips to ensure a more positive recruiting outcome and campus visit.
- Submit your job posting in HireSMCM as soon as possible.
- Refrain from making changes to your recruiting date unless it is absolutely necessary.
- Select your preselected candidates in HireSMCM by the appropriate deadline.
- Contact us as soon as possible if you must make ANY changes.
- Make sure the representative(s) who will be coming on campus has all the information needed (map, parking instructions, and other directions).
Career Immersion Trips
Regional employers open their doors to small groups of students and provide an onsite overview of the organization and career opportunities.
Each February St. Mary’s hosts a career fair. The career fair includes organizations that provide service and gap year opportunities in addition to jobs and internships. Space is extremely limited for this event, as such, and organization interested in recruiting should contact the Career Development Center for details at (240) 895-4203 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Posting a Job or Internship
If you are interested in posting full or part time job opportunities for our students and alumni, you can do so by creating an account in HireSMCM. This is our job and internship database. Once your employer profile is approved, you will be able to post and manage open listings. We welcome both paid and unpaid opportunities but the College reserves the right to determine suitability for academic credit. We follow the criteria for internship programs under the Fair Labor Standards Act. If you are interested in hosting an intern and need assistance developing a position description, please contact us.
Partnering for a Signature Internship
Our internship program is flexible to meet the needs of our employers and students with both credit and non-credit options and internships year round. It is designed to connect employers with students who have successfully completed professionalism and career-readiness training.
