Capital Design Advisory (CDA) Committee

A CDA  public meeting will be held in the Auditorium at HSMC on Thursday, Sept. 24 from 7-9:30 p.m.

The public meeting will discuss the proposed site plan, building architecture, and floor plan layouts for the replacement of Anne Arundel Hall and the new Maryland Heritage Interpretive Center.  The two construction projects are currently in the planning phase.  The Anne Arundel replacement will include modern archaeological curation facilities for Historic St. Mary's City and academic space for the college's programs in anthropology, museum studies, and language/cultures.  HSMC's new interpretive center will replace the visitor's center currently in the blue barns off Rosecroft Road.

Feedback from the community is welcomed.

These projects stem from 1997 legislation that formally affiliated the college and the historic city to foster joint educational and interpretive programming.  Co-locating academic programs related to the legacy of the historic site, archaeological research and curation, and the city's primary interpretation center in one location will enhance educational programs and promote close interaction between the faculty and staff of the two institutions in a truly unique setting. More information can be found at the following web sites: Anne Arundel Hall and Maryland Heritage Interpretive Center

The CDA was created by SMCM and HSMC to provide an interface for community input to their capital development planning. The CDA is charged with seeking public comment in its review of master plan and design proposals for major capital improvement and landscape projects on the St. Mary's College campus and the grounds of HSMC. Membership of the CDA includes representatives from established community organizations, the college, and the city.
