What are the goals of the Council?
 Founded in 1976, CfMA fosters the public awareness, concern, and responsibility for the conservation of archeological resources in Maryland.
  • Promoting research, preservation, and management of archeological resources in Maryland.
  • Encouraging public outreach and education in Maryland Archeology, such as Archeology Month.
  •  Quarterly meetings serve as a forum for the exchange of information about Maryland archeology.
  •  Coordinating lobbying efforts in support of legislation affecting Maryland archeology.
  •  Establishing ethical and research standards for the conduct of archeology in Maryland.
What are the benefits of membership?
  •  By attending quarterly meetings you will contribute to the discussion of issues relevant to Maryland archeology.
  •  You will receive updates on legislation involving archeological resources in Maryland.
  •  As a member you will receive the annual publications, Abstracts in Maryland Archeology.
  •  You will participate in periodic workshops associated with quarterly meetings. Past events have included a NAGPRA workshop, archeological site tours, and guest speakers.
