More information about our club, our team, and our host barn:

About our lessons:

Our club lessons (and second lesson for team members) are taught by instructors at A Moment In Time Farm in Leonardtown, MD.  Most of the time lessons are made up entirely of club members, but depending on riders' skill levels may also include local riders taking lessons at AMIT.  Lessons are always arranged to group similar skill levels together and are easily fit into students class schedules.  For club lessons students are assigned to a particular horse each semester (unless problems arise and then a switch is possible).  Students are expected to arrive at the barn thirty minutes early for all lessons to groom and tack their horse, and should expect to have time after the lesson as well to untack, brush and turn out their horse.  All levels of experience (including none) are welcome in our club!  We have access to a wide range of horses and instructors to suit any rider.

About the barn:

AMIT is located near Leonardtown, MD about 20-30 minutes north of campus.  Other than hosting our club and team, AMIT offers year-round lessons and boarding to the local community.  Facilities include lighted outdoor riding areas, round pen, and access to trails and cross-country jumps.  Students who own a horse are generally able to keep their horse at AMIT and ride them in lessons if they choose.  Prospective students should contact the barn to discuss this if you plan on bringing your horse to college with you.  Students are highly encouraged to participate in activities hosted by AMIT including local shows, trail rides, and clinics.

About our shows:

Our intercollegiate team competes within the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).  We are a club sport here at St. Mary's but compete against other schools with both club and varsity teams.  Shows include flat and fences divisions and have appropriate levels for almost any rider.  For more information on IHSA, click here.
