About the Maryland Student Legislature
The Maryland Student Legislature (MSL) is a club available at several colleges and universities across Maryland. In short, MSL is a mock Maryland General Assembly. We meet two times a year at various colleges and universities across Maryland to write, debate, argue, and vote on pieces of legislation that you and your peers wrote. At the end of the year, we travel to the Maryland State House in Annapolis, MD for our Annual Session. Legislation that passes is sent to the persons who you mandated the bill to. For example, if you wrote a bill about mass transit in Baltimore, you would want to mandate it to the governor, mayor of Baltimore, secretary of transportation, and representative of Baltimore. These people would receive a copy of the bill that you wrote! This is a great way to participate in a mock-legislature and get your voice heard.
You are encouraged to visit the MSL website at www.msl.org to learn more!
