Writing Legislation

Writing legislation for MSL is simple!  It is suggested that you copy and paste a piece of legislation from a previous year, then just delete the text and start writing your own legislation!

Acts

You would write an act to change an existing law or code or writing something new into law or code.  Simply find the existing law or code and change it by putting a strikethrough through the text that you are changing and writing the new text in UPPERCASE.

Resolutions

You would write a resolution if you wanted to state your opinion about something but didn't want to make it a law or code, yet.

How Should I Write a Act or Resolution?

Good question!  Simply follow the official MSL Writing Manual for Acts and Resolutions guide.  It can be found by visiting www.msl.org/govdocs/MSL_Legislation_Writing_Manual.pdf.

When is Legislation Due?  Who shall I submit it to?

Legislation should be submitted via e-mail to Chris Ingraham.  Please submit your legislation ASAP so that it can be reviewed for any errors.  For the remainder of the year, legislation is due:
