Drivers
All employees of SafeRide must be certified to drive a state vehicle. SMCM offers Driver Certification classes several times each semester. As a driver, employees will drive the SafeRide van to and from The Green Door or Oasis returning students to campus.
General Responsibilities
- Complete driver certification training, Blood Borne pathogen training, and general SafeRide employee training
- Drive passengers to campus safely from authorized locations in a state vehicle
- Answer calls and dispatch vehicles
- Identify SafeRide passengers as students of St. Mary's College of Maryland
- Record calls and ridership statistics
- Complete time sheet regularly
- Keep supervisor and manager informed of problems and concerns
Requirements
- At least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Good disciplinary record at St. Mary's College
- Must be a full-time student
- Must have a valid driver's license and be certified to drive a state vehicle. Drivers must have less than 4 points on driving record
Time Commitment
- Meetings with staff advisor, manage, and/or supervisors as needed
- All-staff meetings once per semester
- Work at least one shift every other week
- Complete two days of training each semester
