In all of the academic buildings, as well as in the Library and the Campus Center, St. Mary's provides wireless access to the campus community through MobileNet. A map is available here that details the areas of campus that have wireless access. Buildings colored in red have wireless access. The network services that are offered as part of MobileNet include, but are not limited to, access to the Internet, SMARTNet, and Blackboard. Access to SMCM e-mail through Webmail is also provided. All standard operating systems are supported including Windows, Macintosh, Unix, and Linux operating systems. St. Mary's College's Wireless Computing Policy is available here.

Students will need the following computer equipment in order to use MobileNet:

  • 802.11.b or 802.11.g Wireless Network Card (NIC)

These items may be purchased at any store selling computer items, or at the SMCM Campus Store when you arrive on campus. Depending on the brand and model computer you have, wireless connectivity may be built in. 802.11.a Wireless devices will not work on MobileNet.
