Changing a Password in Windows, Mac, and Webmail
If you have forgotten your password and have enrolled in the Self Service Reset Password system, click here.
To change your password using a Windows system connected to the network
- Log on to the college network
- Press and hold the Ctrl and Alt key at the same time and then press the Delete key.
- A screen will appear
- Select Change Password
- Enter your old (current) password, type in the new password, then retype the new password to confirm that you typed it correctly, then click OK. Your password must meet complexity requirements.
To change your password using a Macintosh system connected to the network
- Mac users are advised to change their password via webmail.
To change your password via Outlook Web Access (webmail)
- Login to your email account via the web
- Click on the options button located in the top right of the page and then click "See all options..."
- On the left side menu click "Settings". Click "Password"
- The Change password window will appear.
- Enter your old password, press the tab key
- Enter your new password, press the tab key. Please be sure your new password meets the complexity requirements.
- Confirm your new password
- Click Save
- You will be notified that your password has been changed.
- Close your browser.
Faculty/Staff Laptop Users
If you are not physically connected to the SMCM network, and you change your password via OWA (Outlook Web Access), you must continue to log into your laptop with your old password until you once again physically connect to the SMCM network. You will need to use your new password to access your email.
