PASSWORD INFORMATION
When selecting a password the object is to is to make it as difficult as possible for someone to make an educated guess about what you have chosen. The SMCM Appropriate Use Policy addresses the need to maintain the confidentiality of your password. Please make every effort to follow the password guidelines and keep your account(s) secure.

The Password Reset Program allows you to change your SMCM Network and email password without contacting the Support Center. You MUST enroll in the program prior to using the reset program and you MUST know your username and password to access the system. Visit the Self Service Password Reset Program (SSPRP) for more information.
The SSPRP page also allows you to access your SMARTNet and BlackBoard passwords.

VPN INSTRUCTIONS AND MAPPING A NETWORK DRIVE
Connecting to the Virtual Private Network (VPN) will allow you to work remotely (at home, on travel) and have the same access network access you have on campus including the ability to open and save files directly from and to your network drive.

CARS
Your CARS password is different from your network/email password. If you have forgotten your CARS password, please contact the Help Desk for assistance.
BLACKBOARD
If you are in the pilot program for Blackboard 9 and need a password reset, please email Dr. Jennifer Wright (jcwright@smcm.edu) using your SMCM email address. Please provide the name of the course in which you are enrolled.
If you are NOT in the pilot program for Blackboard 9 and need a password reset, please call the help desk at x2357.
SMCM CAMPUS PORTAL
The Campus Portal uses your network/email log-on and password.
Please contact the Support Center at x4357 if you experience difficulties accessing the Portal using your network name and password. For questions regarding content and use of the Portal please contact Nick Tulley in Glendenning Hall at x2023.
