Promoting Inclusiveness
Scholars host annual visits to high schools and community centers in Maryland and Washington, DC, to promote St. Mary's to talented high school students.
PROGRAM ADMISSION
Each May, St. Mary's College invites 30 entering students to join DeSousa-Brent. Students are identified by their record as high school leaders and their membership in underrepresented groups, including:
- Students who are first in their families to attend college
- Low-income students
- Ethnic minorities
- Students with disabilities
- Students from rural or urban communities
Entering students who accept our invitation join a cohort of DeSousa-Brent Scholars and a larger group of campus leaders. Advanced students who request to join DeSousa-Brent are considered as space permits.
